A trip across the Blue Mountains

For my birthday, my girlfriend Larissa had a beautiful surprise for me, bringing me to one of the most beautiful place in New south Wales for a long photographic weekend, the Blue Mountains !

The Blue Mountains is a mountainous region and a mountain range, borders on Sydney's metropolitan area, its foothills starting about 50 kilometres west of the state capital.

The public's understanding of the extent of the Blue Mountains is varied, as it forms only part of an extensive mountainous area associated with the Great Dividing Range.

Officially the Blue Mountains region is bounded by the Nepean and Hawkesbury rivers in the east, the Coxs River and Lake Burragorang to the west and south, and the Wolgan and Colorivers to the north.

With such many beautiful places around, like a range of mountains, plateaux and escarpments extending off the Great Dividing Range, it was definitely hard to resist.

Our adventure started with several established towns situated on its heights, including Katoomba, Blackheath, and Mount Victoria.

After having done our business and preparing our photographic gears, we got our first hitchhiker session through the bush, looking for wentworth falls.

An extremely sloping and slippery slope, a day after heavy rain, and the whole over a period of nearly two hours round trip.

Yet far from being the most difficult course, it says a lot.

As soon as we returned, and after being restored, astrophotography could take place, finally, i missed this genre so much when I lived in Paris, and there is, of course, too much pollution light in Sydney too.

Hard to be an urban kid, and passionate by the stars at the same time.

Hiking, exploring, the Blue Mountains are full of surprises, and it was a pleasure to discover this region, so raw, intense, and adventurous.

The advantage of it remain in the fact that it is so close to Sydney, two hours drive maybe, taking your time, which is nice, if you need to go green, even just the time of a weekend.

Anyway it is an exceptional getaway, a good thing for the mind and body, activities not missing.
