How to be more curious ?

Curiosity has a fundamental importance in photography, even in art, and I would say, in life too. It's true after all, how to enjoy this delicious dish, meet this young woman, or get this promotion, without showing curiosity ? This absolute sense that pushes the photographer or the journalist to go forward, to get what he wants, or at least to look for it, is in my opinion the basis of all progress. Instinct develops with experience, but we do not risk taking the cliché of our lives by staying on the beaten track. Chance smiles on the audacious, it seems. One thing is certain, one hundred percent of successful people have tried. So, how can we be more curious in life?
1. Be adventurers
A quote says, "Children are born scientists ... the best thing a parent can do, when he raises a child, let him get by, simply." As a child, my mother allowed me to experiment with a lot of things. I analyzed everything and disassembled everything I could. I liked to understand how it worked. The least of my toys, tools, my father's old Minolta. My mother never discouraged me, she always let me do, the observer's eyes and a smirk. In today's world as an adult, we are discouraged to discover new things, like children. So try. Whether it's cooking, mechanics, computer software, or anything else, try it. Disassemble and reassemble.
2. Experience new artistic points of view
As kids, we like to cheat, experiment and play pranks. Yet, we stop doing this as we get older, why? Build your own laboratory at home. It can be your laptop, your office, your garage, whatever. In sandbox mode, let yourself go to new things. Think as a scientist. Do your own research. Whether it's music, writing, sculpture, dance, whatever. There is no failure in the experiments. You are only making progress.
3. Let yourself go, have fun!
Picasso said that we are all born as artists, as children. The problem is how, and if we stay artists as we get older!
Let's teach children. Let's have fun. To follow our own voice, not to become "smarter". But rather, follow our curiosity, for our well being. What does that mean ? Well, already, do not let anyone tell you that everything you study or pursue is "stupid". Ignore them, what children do.
Yes but, and creativity? How can I be more creative today? Do not worry about what you're shooting, turn off your brain and feel it emotionally. For 30 minutes, walk without destination, follow your curiosity. Stroll! Keep in mind that randomly from a street the biggest clicks can occur.
My greatest advice: do not judge your curiosity. Never think that your idea is "stupid" or "good" or "smart". No censorship. But humility and passion.
Here, I hope this article will help you to see more clearly, or at least will inspire you, a little bit. Photography is an art, and sensitivity plays an important role. Love the human is the best way to progress in street photography.
See ya !
Ludovic.
